Back home from Europe and I had to turn around in two days and head to Las Vegas for another work committment - our annual consortia conference. In the meantime, Greg had to go to Chicago for supper, so our plans got a little interesting. I drove him to Fredericton, came home, packed for Vegas, slept once, and headed back to Fredericton to pick him up. Then, since I was leaving from Fredericton the next morning, we just stayed there for the night. I was off to YYZ in the morning, flights all on time and uneventful, and made it to Vegas around noon their time. Had a nice chat with others going to the same conference in flight and I even met my colleague Alisha along the way. Checked in to the hotel (Paris), spent the rest of the afternoon in my room chillin' after finding a bite because time zones are evil, and met some of the GT gang for supper at China Poblano in the Cosmopolitan.
Daily schedule: wake up at 3am (damn you time zones!), find coffee, long conference days, find 'fresh' air when available, repeat. Travel conferences are exhausting, but it's nice to spend some time with colleagues and meet suppliers in person. One of the evenings, we had a night out at Brooklyn Bowl (Jen and I found some eats afterwards). Another I went out for supper with some of the team from Hyatt. The final night we had a Moulin Rouge themed gala.
On my last day of conference, my good friends Erika and Chris came into town for their conference, so I was super pumped to spend the afternoon with them. Coffee stop, some tasty eats at Momofuku, some random wandering on the Strip, a visit to Eataly, and some tasty beverages at Beer Park.
Last day in Vegas consisted of finding things to do to kill time before my flight, which wasn't leaving until almost midnight. A bunch of us headed out to explore Area 15 and Omega Mart. Super weird but kind of neat. Had some drinks at eats Lumin Cafe (great hummus!!) and relaxed in the sun. Wandered around. Had some extra time with colleagues in the airport when their flight was delayed. Had my first ever eupgrade go through and was upgraded to laydown business class for Vegas to Toronto. Quick immigration, coffee, caught my next flight, and home before noon, with luggage. Ange out.
